XML Ticket Format
GSOC users now have another alternative for submitting tickets remotely. GSOC is pleased to
announce it has developed a new XML standard which will allow users to submit both text and
coordinate information. PRISM, the computer system which GSOC uses to process locate
requests, will “read” the coordinates to create an excavation polygon.
By way of background, when using an XML standard to interact with GSOC, a user can
remotely prepare and release their tickets without using ITIC, fax or the phone. XML is a handy
way for users that already enter information into a work order system to automatically submit
their tickets to GSOC without performing the additional work of handling the same data twice.
Incorporating XML into existing work processes will require some programming work on the
user side, but this is a one-time investment that will yield continuing savings of both time and
labor.
Please feel free to contact GSOC’s Help Desk at 800-245-5852 or 651-681-7326 if you would
like more information about using XML to submit your tickets to GSOC.
